Events Calendar and Arenas go mobile… 100 users also!

Well, to start with, we hit the 100 user mark this week, which in under 2 months and not much promotion apart from word of mouth and the odd poster here and there I think is quite good. I’m currently looking in to getting a bit of support from a few people which if it comes off would be great, but not mentioning any names just yet as I don’t want to curse it! Hopefully if that does come off, I’m going to get a press release put together from a friend and see if we can get a nice editorial piece in Athletics Weekly to get a bit of promotion for the site. No doubt that will help with A-W’s massive weekly following across the UK.
We’ve just been working on the Events Calendar and the Arenas section of the website recently, and they have been live for about a week or so now, and we’ve now got them on to the mobile version of the site, so if you’re in the middle of driving to a track you’ll be able to get on the arenas section and bring up the Google Maps link just in case you’re getting a bit lost!
We’ve also added the events calendar to the mobile site as well, so you will now find that you are able to view a list of events on your phone. From there, you can find the stadium the event is at, see when the event is and see what the weather is like at the location.
No doubt more things will follow, and if you’ve been keeping track of your emails, you should notice that you’ve been receiving the odd Athletics News email from us. We are going to try and make those a weekly mailer if we can do to keep you up to date with all the goings on in the world of athletics.
