Arenas section added to the site (events calendar coming soon)
May 5, 2010 No CommentsWe have recently been working on an event calendar function on the website and realised that if we would like it to be fully integrated that we would need to give the option to actually select a stadium/arena rather than just typing in a city name.
Off the back of this we have now created an Arenas section to the website which includes Outdoor and Indoor tracks along with some other types of arenas such as gyms and other facilities for training. There are currently only about 30 arenas on the site, but this will gradually continue to grow over time. When you click on an arena, you can find the location of the arena using a simple link which jumps through to Google Maps. You can also check out the weather close to the area of the arena, so if you’ve got an event coming up at that location you can figure out what clothes to pack… but don’t take it as gospel obviously!
You will notice that on a few of the arenas that there are events that are being held at the location currently on the site. Some time in the near future you will be able to confirm that you are attending events and see who else is attending, along with the ability to list events that you know are taking place at your club soon. The eventual idea is also to have training sessions on the calendar so that people can see what training session is going to be on that particular day.
